Page 1 of 9 CONTACT IMPROVISATIONIs an amazing dance technique that will develop your sense of body, space and presence - a great tool for partner work and re-alignment. The training is a fun combination of technical exploration, research and dance improvisation. CI makes your body confident and aware, and brings back our natural sense of connectivity, rhythm and responding from the body. CI is a playful and open form, a technique constantly being developed by dancers and teachers all over the world. CI training help us to move in the “now” and to regain the confidence and playfulness of childhood play and to reconnect within the body. CI enables us as artists, movers and professional dancers to explore and communicate through touch and energy exchange. To make sensory, emotional and artistic discoveries through dance. On a basic level contact improvisation can be enjoyed by anyone who loves to dance and move. On an advanced level contact improvisation involves powerful dynamic partner work, release technique, choreographic research, high lifts, partner balancing and acrobatic elements. CI is equally popular with men and woman. CI partner work is not gender specific, you dance with both same and opposite sex. CI is becoming an increasingly known dance form all over the world, explored and developed in a growing international dance community and network, from Helsinki to Buenos Aires, from Tokyo to San Francisco…Originally CI was “discovered” by Steve Paxton and a group of dancers in N.Y., and this year CI celebrates it’s 36th anniversary as a dance technique. CI took inspiration from various movement and dance practises incl. post modern dance and aikido. CI was intertwined with the development of the "new dance movement" that spread from mainly N.Y., San Francisco and Amsterdam throughout Europe and to the rest of the world, where CI dancers continues to research and contribute to the technique. |
